You can’t make this up

ByMary Lenaburg May 2, 2019

The last 24 hours have been surreal. I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried, truly. Hold on friends…it’s one heck of a story.
As you know I have been ill for the last six days. It came on suddenly and presented as the one of those nasty Gastrointestinal viruses that are roaming the earth right now. I have doing ALL the things of the things and I was still making very slow progress.

Last night around 11:30 pm things got really interesting. I was in a lot of pain, so much so, that I ended up in the ER. I was expecting to get fluids, meds and maybe a diet plan that would address things better.

Instead I got a CAT Scan, abdominal ultrasound and tons of lab work. Then there was a diagnosis of Colitis AND two very large, but benign, Ovarian Cysts. Seriously? The cysts were a bit unexpected.

I was sent home in the wee hours this morning with antibiotics, pain meds, dietary restrictions and a care plan. Cool. Then this morning the hospital called back with some shocking lab results.

Salmonella!!! Are you kidding me?? Food Poisoning??? The nurse was shocked that my kidneys and liver were doing so well having gone this long without treatment.

She said I was very lucky not to be in the ICU! What??

I can’t even! We now have even stronger meds and I should be much, much better by Saturday or Sunday.

Jerry has been Cloroxing every surface and washing all the things. He is now calling me “Iron Lady”.

Y’all what even is my life right now?? I would laugh but that might end badly.

So here’s to antibiotics and pain meds, oatmeal and chicken noodle soup. Now we begin to heal.
