some friday fun with {sqt}…
Hey Y’all. Happy Easter Friday!! It’s still the easter Octave so today we get to eat ALL the meat!! Woohoo!!
OK…moving on…
I decided to join in a little {SQT} fun with the always fantastafabulous Kelly over at This Ain’t Lyceum. I haven’t done this in quite awhile but it’s nice to reconnect with the blogosphere. So here we go…
- The every charming and witty Grace of Camp Patton always has a good book recommendation or three so when she was all kinds of thrilled with the America’s First Daughter: A Novelwritten by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie I thought I would give it a shot. Y’all…it’s intense and awesome. I stayed up way to late last night reading because I could not put.it.down. It’s written from Patsy Jefferson POV and so far (I’m about one third in) it does to disappoint. The beautiful prose as well as the setting and historical details the co-authors researched combined make for one happy reader. I am so loving this read. Thanks Grace! You ‘da bomb dot com, friend.
- I’m currently working my way through the downstairs closets, re-organizing and well generally getting things put in their proper place. There are three plus the pantry and laundry room. The aren’t very big so simplicity and organization are key. All I can say is, grief is hard on home organization. I have not really done much since Courtney’s death and it will be three years in December. Y’all it’s time for a little shake-up at Chez Lenaburg. Closets…I own you!! Also, please send help because I think I may have my father’s hoarding gene…wowza! So much stuff. Hello Good Will. Just keep breathing Mary…you got this…maybe.
- Looking for mascara recommendations. Whatcha got friends for a middle-aged woman who need a little pick me up in the eyelash area. Leave me all the comments pretty please.
- I started exercising this week for the first time in three years. Y’all I can’t even tell you how good it feels to be moving again but also how friggin sore EVERYTHING is. If your looking to be inspired to keep going on your own fitness journey…ummm don’t look here because I want to quit every darn day. EVERY darn day!
- Date Nights…what do you all do? I mean outside the go to dinner/movies thing. I need some inspiration for unique budget friendly date nights. Jerry and I will celebrate 29 years in August and date nights have had a huge positive impact on our time together. Give me all the recs y’all. I’m open to anything other than jumping out of a perfectly good airplane or eating bull fries. Those things are…just…no…
- I am speaking in Boise, Idaho on May 13 at the Idaho Catholic Women’s Conference. The theme of the conference is from Proverbs 31:25 “She was clothed in strength and dignity and she laughs without fear of the future.” I promise you we will laugh and I have pretty spring frock to wear. I got this down. If you can make it, please make sure you come and say hello. Don’t be shy. I’d love to see y’all there. You can register here friends…
- What do you think of my spring trench coat? Bright enough for you? Jerry says they could use me a night light on board the aircraft carrier bringing the jets in. Yes. I love color. Be bold friends. You only live once.
OK that’s all for this week…linking up with the Mantoan...Happy Weekending!
Well, it’s not a date night per say, but when Fulton and Teddy are both at MDA camp this summer, Tony and I are heading to Atlantic City for a couple nights!!!!!!!!! It will be our first overnight away from the kids in a decade and I may be slightly excited. (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) So I would suggest a casino trip for you and Jerry. Even if you’re not into gambling, the food, the nightlife, the shows, the shopping; might be fun! ( I’ll be doing all that as well as lying on a beach and reading for hours UNDISTURBED.)
Also following for mascara recommendations that are not $50+. Currently relying on a dollar store brand and MEH.
OK loving the idea of a casino trip. We aren’t gamblers at all but the food and sea side view sound great. Thanks friend 🙂
I love your coat! It’s such a happy color, and looks great on you . As far as cheap date nights, Nick and I like to go to a local park for walk and share a sweet treat. Bull Run has some nice trails. Even just walking in our neighborhood woods is nice. We will also do Happy Hour somewhere and share an appetizer.
You know I have lived here for almost 20years and we have never gone to Bull Run. How can this be??? We will need to fix that. thanks for the suggestions Melissa.
That coat is SPECTACULAR. The end.
Okay, fine, mascara. I like Cover Girl’s Professional Remarkable Washable Waterproof Mascara (that is truly its ridiculous name). It is a “tubing” mascara–the regular kind always gave me raccoon eyes within an hour, and this one doesn’t. And it’s cheap!
Thanks Christy! That is indeed one ridiculous name but if it means no raccoon eyes…I will have to check it out. 🙂
I love your coat! Check out the dating divas website. There is a ton of ideas on there that are very fun and affordable.
Dating Divas website?? who knew?? Thanks for the tip Ann-Marie.
Great coat! I’ve always liked almay mascara but on a fancier note Tarte is really nice.
Thanks for the compliment Karen. i will have to check out the Tarte mascara. I’ve tried Almay and I find that it flakes on me.
We love to go to coffee shops on dates. They are cute, they smell great, and if we are hungry there’s usually a treat available. It’s sometimes hard to find one that’s open in the evening. Recently my husband found this Asian French pastry shop and it is so much fun to go someplace different than what I’m used to. I’m shy, so I would never, ever go all of the new places he takes me by myself. It’s really half the fun! An inexpensive little adventure that can be done every weekend.
Coffee shops are our jam. we love them. I wish we had more variety around where we live though. I love the sound of the Asian French pastry shop. Yummy!
For mascara I’m now using Physician’s Formula Organic Wear. In black.
Good to know. I love their concealer.
So for date night, perhaps mini golf? Mascara, right now I am on Este Lauder Black. It was a gift and I like it, no raccoon eyes, although its not waterproof, and I have yet to see it in the hot humid months, will return for a comment on that when that weather kicks in. Love the yellow trench coat! Such a bright, happy color!
I have found and fallen for Benefit They’re Real Mascara- it’s perfect!
Mascaras! I love Benefits roller lash mascara but it’s pricey so I haven’t bought a full tube (have had the same sample size for a year now….. whoops not good but it’s still working and I haven’t gotten an eye infection…. yet). It kind of curls your eyelashes and adds great length. I also love Mac false lashes mascara…also rather pricey but I get great length from those. On the daily I usually am grabbing either Maybelline’s push up angel mascara or Maybelline’s lash sensational mascara. Give me great volume and length. Hope you find one you like!
