Room and heart makeover
I didn’t expect it to be so hard.
I just wanted to give Jonathan a little room update. He has slept in that bedroom since 2008, when Courtney’s physical needs precipitated them switching rooms. J-man never once complained about the switch or the color of the walls. He just did it because his sister needed something.
As I was prepping the wall for the primer, I was overcome with emotion. My mind went to the day I painted Court’s room that blush pink. I had waited so long to create a little girls room.
Painting it now felt like another goodbye.
The tears came so quickly, I was unprepared. There would no longer be a pink room in my house. These walls that my daughter touched, where she slept, would be no more.
Then I thought of ALL Jonathan had faced while in this room. The anxiety, the depression and so much loss. All those nights spent listening and encouraging while surrounded by pink walls.
I decided then and there to declare victory over ALL that Jonathan and our family has faced by acknowledging ALL that God has healed, restored and redeemed.
On every wall I wrote scripture verse and Saints name seeking their intercession for Jonathan. I wept. I wrote on walls. I prayed and sang worship music, asking God to intercede on Jonathan’s behalf.
Then I sealed it all in as I primed the walls. I sealed in ALL the love and prayers and said another goodbye to my daughter.
I prayed Jn 10:10, Eph 3:20-21, Phil 4:13, Romans 8:28 and so on. With each prayer I claimed victory and healing for my son. I asked the intercession of St. Pope Jp11, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and others.
When I finished, I felt like I was now standing on holy ground. New seasons can be challenging, but when you walk hand in hand with the Living Hod, great things are in store.
“Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” Exodus 3:5
