God and Coffee

I woke up three times last night. Three times, I prayed for you, for me, for my family, my friends, for the people of Paris, for restoration and healing in the church, and for the repose of souls whom have gone before us. 

The third time, at 5:11 am, I listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and headed about to 6:15 am Mass. The Homily was pure gold and it was then I knew why I had so much trouble sleeping. 

 Father said “In times of trouble we are to lean on God and not our own understanding. We are to rely on Him to get us through, not on ourselves, for we do nothing without Him. We will all suffer, but remember that Jesus suffered first and He shows us how to join our suffering to His, to love well to the very end.”

So much to be concerned with this day and every day, but God remains friend. Always. Today at 10:00 EST I give a talk on redemptive suffering. Coincidence? Nope. A little God-incedence me thinks. After all it’s when we marry our sufferings to Christ that we are able to love as He did. Did I mention I woke up three times and have had about three hours combined sleep? Redemptive suffering anyone?
