Girls and their Fathers
A little girl and her father. He sings over her as she safely rests on him.
This photo was taken when I was two. My father loved ALL kinds of music and sang in the church choir his whole life. His voice was a deep bass, loud and strong , filling every corner of the room.
When my Mom gave me this photo yesterday, I was immediately struck by the trust I had in my Dad. So much that I simply rested my head on him, knowing He would care for me.
It’s how I desire my relationship with my Heavenly Father to be, complete trust, placing my head on his lap knowing He will care for my every need.
The second thing that came to mind was how our earthly fathers can sometimes fail us, leaving us feeling unloved and set aside. My Dad was a functional alcoholic until I was 19 years old. He was a good man who faced many demons throughout his life and even though I never heard him say “I love you”, I know he did. I see it in this photo and remember it in every caring action he ever did throughout my life. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing my friends.
I am reminded that Our Heavenly Father never disappoints my friends. Never. He is extravagant and so generous with His love and mercy. He pursues us and never once leaves us in the dark. He is there, waiting for us to ask him into the mess, allowing us to rest in Him.
No matter what your relationship is with your earthly father is, know that God the Father will never abandon you. He will never quit on you. He will love you for an eternity, so go, lean on Him and let Him love you right where you are friend.
