A Seat at the Table
The world feels very fragile right now. It’s unsettling to watch the news. The despair and hurt that I witness on a daily basis is hard to navigate. I was really struggling this last week trying to find my voice in it all without causing more pain or dodging the issues out of fear of retribution.
Finally the dam broke and after losing two nights sleep wrestling with it all, I came before the Father and begged for clarity and wisdom. His words were a balm to me. .
“Love me through them” .
That’s it y’all. Thats what He said. “Love me through them” I shared this with Jerry and we prayed about it for three more days trying to discern who the “them” was. Once again God spoke in simplicity and said “ All of them”. .
Last night we opened our doors for the first time since the shut down began and welcomed friends to our table. We share the same faith but we do not allows 100% agree with one another in how things should be done. It was a beautiful night y’all.
The conversation was robust but always shared with a respectful tone. There was a natural back in forth discussing politics, our current cultural climate, the state of our world and the impact on our families. There might even have been a side convo all about fabulous shoes and where to find them. Just sayin.”
It was absolutely wonderful. At the end of the evening Jerry and I were more convicted than ever that hospitality is part of our mission as a couple. To open wide our doors and welcome “all of them” with open loving arms. Loving Christ through each and every person made in His image and likeness, no matter what.
I can’t wait for our next dinner party. You are welcome here friend. The door is open and there is a seat at the table. Always.
