a father’s love…
When I looked at my phone this morning, I was met with this image above. Six years ago today, this was my reality. It took me a moment to catch my breath. Not because I was upset but because photograph captures our life with Courtney. The pain, the love, the trust, the confusion and the beauty of a life lived for Christ.
I see a Father pouring his heart out into his daughter. I see a daughter patiently trusting her Father to love her through the hard parts. I see hands untwined as they lean into each other for strength. I see love and surrender to a plan neither understand but both have committed to with their very lives.
Trust.
It’s not a passive thing to trust in God’s plan for your life, to let go of the fear and anxiety and allow yourself to be lead by the Good Shepard so that one day you will spend an eternity together.
Three years after this photo was taken our daughter Courtney walked into the arms of her Beloved Lord and was welcomed into Paradise. She was healed fully and completely and we praise the Lord of heaven and Earth for the miracle of her life, her witness to the power of LOVE.
Tomorrow I am speaking at the Women’s Retreat at St. Phillip’s in Falls Church, VA. I will share about God’s Redeeming Love and on TRUSTing the Lord with your Life, even if you don’t know where the path will lead. Maybe I should just put this photo up and lead a medication on how it sums up a life lived to the fullest as God allowed it to be.
TRUST my friends, even when you can’t see the path ahead. Trust in the Living God who is working ALL things together for the good of those who love Him
