  1. Oh, Mary, I wish I had words of wisdom or encouragement, but you will understand I'm sure that I don't have magic ones on this. Anything I'd say sounds trite and clueless to what you are going through. Know of my continuing prayers for your family's strength.

  2. I can't even imagine, Mary. Sending mega hugs and prayers. Have you checked with your local city government? When our sewer line cracked, if it had been 2 feet further out, the city would have paid for it. But because it was in our house, we had to. I guess they will know better when they do the video…but I think it's still worth looking in to. Prayers coming!

  3. Mary, go check your water/sewer bill. In PA, we have the option of adding insurance that is something like $2 per month and it covers the sewage pipe from basement to street up to $8000. You may have it on there and I pray you do and it is all covered and free of cost to you. Prayers coming your way!

  4. Offering up my work and doctors appointment for you and your family. I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this right now.
Also, a previous commenter is correct. There is insurance available through the water company (that's usually who does it) for the pipes outside the house since your standard homeowners doesn't cover those. It is cheap and well worth getting for the future.

  5. We once needed to replace our main sewer line. We were broke. I prayed…a lot. It was going to cost $3,250. That day a check arrived from our tax return for $3,250. Later, the work was done, but the lawn was a mess and the homeowner's association was complaining. There was no money to fix the yard. I prayed again. Ten minutes later, two Mormon boys walking by offered to do it for me. I said no. As I walked away, I thought, "If I pray, and God sends Mormons…" So, I said yes, and they did a lovely job. (Later, my husband asked if I was going to convert. I said no, If I pray to God, as I understand him, and he sends Mormons…or anyone…it is to me an indication that I'm doing the right thing. 😉

Anyway…the point here is that…prayer helps when it comes to fixing emergency plumbing. I'll be praying for you!

  6. Check with your insurance company too – they covered the repair in my Falls Church house (would not have in my Greenbriar one though), policy had changed over time.

  7. Dear Mary, this is a trial! I am sorry about the drains, and will tell St Rita and St Jude to "pull their fingers out" as we say in England. I am sure God has it covered. If you are to be without proper water and sewage cover for a while are there any contingency plans you can make? I am not joking but once I looked at a house when we were buying and it had a chemical bucket for a toilet, this is in the English countryside, no hot water, one cold tap and seep away drainage. Apparently the farmer and his wife brought up four children like that! Or maybe some friend has a caravan you could put in the garden for "facilities" for now? Just thinking around the problem.
Lots is prayers anyway and hugs to you all xx
