#1 Secret to Marriage
Hey Hello Friends!! We made it to Friday!! Just imagine me doing a little happy dance in the kitchen as I type this!
.
Today I’m going to share the #1 secret to marriage that I have learned in my 32 years of walking beside this amazing nutball of a husband.
.
Are you ready? Because it’s not what you think? Here we go.
.
Allow your spouse the space to just be themselves and love them there.
.
BOOM
.
I know. I know. You’re thinking it’s all about forgiveness and compassion, compromise and listening, or maybe even a division of duty’s in the household.
.
Nope. Not for us. I’ve learned to love my guy right where he is, including when he’s on the dance floor because y’all there is no more awkward than that for this guy.
.
And I LOVE every awkward, silly move he makes. You wanna know why?
.
Because he makes them with me. He makes me laugh with those 1980’s frat house moves. He whispers his appreciation during a slow dance and my heart beats a bit faster. He winks and flirts and it’s the best. And because we are the awkward people we are, our son groans with embarrassment every time…yet he gets his dance moves from his Dad.
.
It’s taken us three decades to learn how to dance well together and the mistakes we’ve made have been horrific. But God remains friends and with His help we figured how to let the other shine without being in competition, how to truly embrace our unique personalities, gifts and charisms so they work in tandem as we walk toward the kingdom of God together.
.
Jerry Don Lenaburg it is a privilege to dance with you. Thanks so much for asking @grouchy_historian I would dance with you any day my love.
.
So friends…what’s your favorite tune to get up and dance too? Mine is “Open Arms” by Journey or “Shut Up and Dance with Me” by @walkthemoonband
.
Share in the comments and have an awesome day!!
